The Salem-Dallas Scorpions 12-under softball team took first place April 12-13 in the Oregon-Panther Easton Early Open Tournament at Wallace Marine Park. 

Lorelei Clarke, a 2003 graduate of Dallas High School, recently completed her second Boston Marathon. The 22-year-old, who now lives in Fort Collins, Colo., completed the 26.2-mile course in 3:47:36. She was the 11,381st finisher overall and was 3,291st among women finishers and 2,352nd in her age division.
   ♦ Beginning May 5, the office hours of Dallas Kids, Inc. will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The office is located at 187 SW Court St.
   ♦ The next Dallas Kids, Inc. board of directors meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
   ♦ The Dallas Mat Club is selling hanging flower baskets as a fund raiser for the junior high and mat club wrestling programs

The under-12 Central Panthers softball team recently finished second in the 12-team Cinco De Mayo Tournament in Junction City.
. The flower baskets, provided by Al's Nursery, are 10-inches in diameter and cost $18. They will be delivered Thursday, May 8, in time for Mother's Day on May 11. To order or for more information: Stephanie Earhart at 503-831-1383 or Shelli Miller at 503-871-2864.
   ♦ The second Dallas Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be Friday, May 9 at the Chemeketa-Eola Viticulture Center in West Salem. The night's festivities begin at 6 p.m. Enshrinees this year are former DHS coaches Gordon Kunke and Kathy Voves, three-sport star Neil Richardson, longtime DHS supporter Joe Hayward Ford and the 1957-58 boys state championship basketball team. The head coach and assistant coach of the year for 2007-2008 also will be honored as well as the boy and girl student-athletes of the year. Tickets to the event are $25 apiece and can be purchased at the high school.

The Central Panther under-14 softball team took first place in the recent Great 48 Tournament in Newberg.

   ♦ The Hershey Track and Field Meet will be held May 18 at Dallas High School's Gallaspy Field. The competition will begin at 2 p.m. The event is open to boys and girls ages 9-14. Local winners qualify for a spot in the state meet in Eugene. For more information: Sheila Havig at 503-409-4290.
   ♦ A fund raising golf tournament for Central Youth Sports baseball will be played May 18 at Cross Creek Golf Course. Play will begin at 8 a.m. The entry fee of $75 per person includes a cart. For more information: Glenn Stormo at 503-409-8386 or online at centralyouthsports.com.
   ♦ Dallas Kids, Inc. junior baseball teams are selling one-half wine barrel planters for $15. Delivery is available within Polk County. This fund raiser helps support the baseball teams for ages 13-14.
