Nominations need to be received by Friday, Dec. 5. Those chosen would serve a three-year term.
Both positions represent the area west of the Cascade Mountains and are currently held by Paul Kovash of Monmouth and John Dimick of Eagle Point. Neither commissioner is eligible for reappointment.
The County Fair Commission is responsible for evaluating statistics, such as attendance records. Other responsibilities include animal welfare policies, as well as environmental and professional development activities that are submitted by each county fair in a report to the Oregon Legislature.
In order to qualify for an appointment, interested individuals must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Oregon, and have an interest in fair activities.
Those interested in applying for either of the two positions need to complete a County Fair Commission interest form, available by calling the Oregon Department of Agriculture at 503-872-6000 or the County Fair Commission in Salem at 503-370-7019.
For more information: Kris Anderson, Oregon Department of Agriculture, 503-872-6600; John McCulley, manager, County Fair Commission, 503-370-7019.
