KVCS gets approval for three AP classes

KINGS VALLEY -- The Advanced Placement Program of the College Board recently approved three AP level courses for high school students at Kings Valley Charter School.

KINGS VALLEY -- The Advanced Placement Program of the College Board recently approved three AP level courses for high school students at Kings Valley Charter School.

The most recent course, AP English Literature and Composition, was approved by the College Board on Aug. 19.

KVCS received the OK earlier in the summer for two other advanced placement courses: Physics B and Biology.

Authorization by the College Board means that the syllabi submitted by Kings Valley instructors "meets or exceeds the expectations colleges and universities have" for that AP subject and have been "reviewed by experienced college and university faculty, who have confirmed that it outlines how you provide a college-level learning experience for your students," according to Trevor Packer of the College Board.

"We have the caliber of students that need this type of challenge," said Mark Hazelton, director of Kings Valley Charter School. "I am pleased to see this come into place."
