9/1 Pedee News: Nola Womer

The ride to Pedee Memorial Evangelical Church Aug. 22 was under a sky dimmed by many white clouds.

There were many bicycle riders along the way.

The dairy cows were enjoying their recently watered pasture.

Farmers have cut the fields and baled the hay or thrashed the grain and baled the straw.

Folks were arriving at church when we did. Mary Shellenbarger helped me get in the church and get the pretty pink bulletin with the service of worship, activities at the church, community events and announcements.

Folks were arriving and the sanctuary was filling. When Pat Lyday came she said that her daughter, Vicki, had returned to Las Vegas.

Dan Hayes came and soon opened the service with prayer before he led the opening hymn "Old Rugged Cross." Pam Burbank played the piano for the hymns.

Pastor Mitch Lee took over the service and explained the announcements. There was then a short time of sharing.

Lee led the hymn "Take My Life" while the tithes and offerings were received by the ushers. Then Lee and Hayes led the singing of the three songs from the small song book in the pews.

The children went with Amber Lee and others for their lesson and activities.

Pastor Lee had time of praise and prayer before his study of Ephesians 6:10-18 "Be Strong in the Lord." He closed his message with prayer and turned the service back over to Hayes, who led the closing hymn "As the Deer" before his closing prayer and benediction.
